Jimmy Amadie (January 5, 1937 – December 10, 2013) was a jazz musician from Philadelphia.〔http://blogs.ottawacitizen.com/2013/12/11/rip-jimmy-amadie/〕 He was a music educator known for his bebop style of piano-playing. He worked with such luminaries as Coleman Hawkins, Mel Tormé, Woody Herman. Amadie was a legend among jazz insiders because, for much of his career, his severe tendinitis has limited his playing ability to a few minutes per month, but his passion for jazz history and theory energized his teaching and inspired many others.
